We've had some glorious weather over the last couple of days here in South Wales which means the current water levels are low on both the River Mellte and River Sychryd. This means all of our river based outdoor activities will be running over the weekend but you still need to take care during your activities.
Plunge pools are going to be much shallower due to the low river levels, so its important to check the depth in each jump area beforehand. The dry weather can also mean that debris, branches, trees, etc can become looser and make it's way into the river, so be aware of this and keep an eye out. Full safety equipment is always required for Gorge Walking and Canyoning and this weekend is no different - helmets, buoyancy aids, wetsuits and good, stable footwear are all vital.
The dry weather can mean if we do get some unexpected heavy rain we could see some flashing on the rivers, so keep up to date with the latest weather conditions in the mountain regions of South Wales
We might see some favourable conditions for Coasteering this weekend, with Sunday being the most likely. The swell along the South Wales coast is going to be towards to upper limit of what is acceptable but Sunday in particular will see very light winds making it the best opportunity for any activities to run. The tide is also seeming to play ball in the Bristol Channel.
If the swell is on the higher side of predictions, then Coasteering activities will not be able to run and we recommend that you head inland to the Brecons for some Gorge Walking or Canyoning, which give you a very similar experience in a different environment.
The swell this weekend is going to be fairly low across both days this weekend, but on Sunday they'll be a gentle offshore wind which could lead to some nice conditions for surfing along the South Wales coast. The weather is going to be cloudy but the rain should hold off. The water temperature is still quite low so you'll need some thermal protection whilst you're in the water.
The usual spots such as Rest Bay in Porthcawl or Oxwich Bay in Swanea will offer some of the better conditions for you.
The Stags and Hens are back in South Wales this weekend and we've got a full set of activities running for them across Saturday, Sunday and Monday. They'll be joining us in the Brecons for some Gorge Walking and Canyoning. We'll also be running some Beach Days down in Porthcawl, with Raft Building, Surfing and plenty of other activities too.
Heading into the half term, we'll be putting some Scouts, who are visiting Swansea for a camp, through their paces with numerous outdoor activities, including raft races, Gorge Walking and a surfing lesson too.
