Levels on the River Mellte are low currently and with heavy rain due in the next few days that is going to bring it's own challenges we need to be aware of. As the water levels drop and ground water levels reduce the soil will loosen. This could lead to extra debris falling into the river and making it's way down so you'll need to be aware of that. Heavy rain predicted tonight and over the weekend which could bring flashing of the rivers and dangerously high river levels, great for kayakers but not so for Canyoners, Gorge Walking should be good on the Sychryd rivers for individuals and groups.
Plunge pools may get filled with debris so be extra careful and check all jumps across the whole jump region. Don't let the warmer weather fool you, water temperatures are still going to be cold, so even though it could be sunny and warm, you'll need to ensure you're wearing full thermal protection throughout the activity. As always full safety equipment will be required.
GORGE WALKING ACTIVITY SOUTH WALES UPDATE 12.05.2017
Heavy rain is expected so be careful of rapid rising river levels and debris in the rivers, also watch out for tree feeling in the area and river contamination from the chemicals from industry and farms, more susceptible on the Sychryd river.
Swell is getting bigger and stronger over the next few days so most Coasteering areas will be dangerous even for the die hard adventurer. Need to watch wind and swell or head off to West Wales for better conditions.
Surf is definitely picking up over the next few days with bigger swells but also bigger winds so picking the right Beach with the wind conditions will be crucial.
Coasteering Update 13.05.2017 - No coasteering on the South Wales coastline close to Cardiff at the moment with big surf conditions and relatively high winds. Further West would be the only options available at the moment.
This weekend we are hosting our usual groups of Stag and Hen doo's staying in the Cardiff, Swansea and South Wales region. Canyoning may change to Gorge Walking due to the conditions and Coasteering so definitely on hold, but the Surf is banging so always good options
We've still got some spaces on our activities over the coming months but we're booking up fast, so if you would like more information of the activities we provide and the options and packages we have then get in touch today and we'll be happy to talk you through all of the options.
