River levels are still good on the River Mellte in the Brecon Beacons, so we're be looking to run both our Gorge Walking and Canyoning activities across both days. Whilst we're not forecast any significant rain over the weekend, with current ground water levels being high, any significant rain fall could lead to flashing on the rivers, so it's important you're aware of rainfall in the mountain areas of South Wales in the 6 - 12 hours before you activity is due to start.
Temperatures are particularly mild for this time of year, but that doesn't mean you don't need to consider your thermal protection. We'll provide a wetsuit to all participants, as well as buoyancy aid and safety helmet, but you need to think about your clothing for before and after the activity.
As with any outdoor activity, particularly those around water, it's vital you have the required safety equipment, correct footwear and an experienced guide who knows the area your activity is running in; all our guides have years of experience and are constantly training to keep up to date with first aid and rescue techniques.
The swell is back on the South Wales coast this weekend, and the wind is also on the upper side of where would would want it to be to run our Coasteering activities. There is also quite a small tidal change this weekend which also brings it's own problems.
All is not lost however. Our Canyoning activities can provide you with all of the same thrills and adrenaline rushes without the coastal conditions considerations, so if you're keen to get out and take part in an action packed outdoor activity, we can still provide that for you.
The surfs back! We should hopefully see swell around the 5ft to 7ft along the South Wales coast this weekend, and although there will be a Southerly to Westerly breeze, it shouldn't be too strong, so heading to one of our easterly facing bays, such as Oxwich Bay in Swansea or Rest Bay in Porthcawl should provide you with a decent level of protection from the wind.
Your main concern this weekend is likely to be water temperatures, so make sure you have the appropriate thermal protection.
We’re getting busier after the winter break. We’ve got a couple of events down out Dinas Rock in the Brecon Beacons, with some Stag Do’s, and Hen Parties from Cardiff and Swansea coming down to have a go at both Gorge Walking and Canyoning.
If we get some time we'll also be looking to hit the beach for a bit of surfing too whilst we can as the summer months are booking up now. If you're still looking for some outdoor activities to do whilst you're here in South Wales, for whatever reason; Stag or Hen parties, Scout Camps or just a holiday, give us a call today and we can discuss the various options available.
