We've had some much more settled weather over the last week, which has allowed the river levels to drop right down. This should mean we have some good conditions for both Canyoning and Gorge Walking in the Brecon Beacons. The ground is still going to be fairly saturated, so as always you will need to be very aware of any sustained rainfall in the Brecon Beacons region before and during your Canyoning or Gorge Walking activity as that could very quickly lead to flashing on the rivers.
Lower river levels will also mean less water in any of the plunge pools of the waterfalls, so it's important you adjust your activities to take these new depths into account, but there is no reason with correct planning by experienced professionals and with the correct safety gear you shouldn't be able to have a fun, enjoyable and full activity.
The ground is still saturated so rainfall will effect the waterflow accross the region and particular safety should be taken by tourists visiting the sites taking pictures of the waterfalls and the Gorge due to the freeboard and the bank being very soft and susceptible to landslides.
The Coasteering gods seem to be smiling this weekend, particularly on Sunday. Swell is looking to be fairly low across both days on the South Wales coast, between 1ft - 3ft. Both days will see changing wind directions, however it will mostly be Southerlies and Westerlies, as is usual on the South Wales coastline. Saturday, these winds may become too strong for Coasteering activities, but on Sunday they are forecasting very gentle winds throughout the whole day, with gusts up to 13 knots, this is probably the best day for any Coasteering activity.
If the wind does pick up and become too strong there is always the option to head inland to the beautiful Brecon Beacons and join us on the River Mellte for some Canyoning, which will give you all the thrills of Coasteering in a completely different environment.
Well, last week you surfers had some great conditions! Unfortunately, with the drop in swell in particular, you're going to find it much tougher going this weekend.
Swell is set to be around 1ft - 3ft across all of the major surf spots on the South Wales coast, including Rest Bay and Coney Beach in Porthcawl, Caswell Bay and Llangennith in Swansea and all of the beaches in the Gower.
Honestly, our advice would be to find yourself a different activity for this weekend, give us a shout and we'll be able to organise Coasteering, Canyoning, Gorge Walking or any other number of watersports.
Still busy as usual with all our activities accross South Wales, Cardiff, Swansea and Brecon regions with a multitude of fantastic outdoor activities on offer with all the usual favourites Coasteering, Gorge Walking, Canyoning, Surfing, kayaking, Rafting and with the usual suspect Stag parties, Hen parties and youth groups.
We're back down in the Brecon Beacons this weekend taking various groups of Stag Do's and Hen Parties from across South Wales, including Cardiff, Swansea and Porthcawl as well as a couple of groups who are just looking for something different to fill their time this weekend, on both Gorge Walking and Canyoning activities.
Looking at the conditions we'll also be looking to get some of those groups down to one of the beaches in South Wales for our Coasteering activity, so all in all, we're going to be pretty busy this weekend.
